The Experience
How It Works
Two blades, one app, any open space. No console. No couch.
- 01
Equip Your Blade
Grab a blade and swing. The sensors inside know how fast you moved and where it landed, and the score updates before you finish the follow-through.
- 02
Claim Your Arena
Pair your blade with the app and any park, backyard, or rooftop becomes a battleground. Set the boundary, pick a mode, fight.
- 03
Choose Your Abilities
Pick a class — Berserker, Duelist, or Paladin — and learn its combos, power strikes, and shields. Every point is earned with your own two hands.
- 04
Climb the Leaderboard
Sessions earn XP win or lose — winning just earns more. Rank up, unlock cosmetics, and settle who's actually best in the seasonal tournaments.
- 05
Squad Up
Blades sync for team play: duels, 2v2 skirmishes, full free-for-alls. Bring your crew — any open space is the arena.
From the Founder
Why Sword Tag?
Every kid who ever picked up a stick knows this game. You point it at your friend, you swing, and within thirty seconds you're arguing about who got hit. We're building Sword Tag to end the argument.
Video games solved scoring, abilities, and progression — and chained you to a couch to get them. Laser tag gets you moving, but the gun does all the work. Nothing out there rewards the swing itself: footwork, timing, nerve. That's the gap — a sword that knows when it connects.
The first playtests open in 2026, and the people on this list will be the first to swing. We bring the swords — you help write the rules everyone else will play by.

Questions
Before You Ask
- When can I play?
- First playtests open in 2026 — waitlist members get priority invites. Full launch follows in 2027.
- What do I need to play?
- For the 2026 playtests, just yourself — swords and gear are provided on site. The retail kit is a Sword Tag blade and the free companion app; full details land before launch, and the waitlist hears them first.
- Does getting hit hurt?
- They're foam swords with a tech stack — built for full-speed play without bruises. The blade registers the hit; it doesn't deliver one. Scoring rewards precision over force, and player guidelines set clear rules of engagement before anyone swings. Final materials specs publish before playtests.
- How much will it cost?
- Pricing is announced closer to playtests. Waitlist members see it before anyone else.
- What does the waitlist actually get me?
- Priority access to the 2026 playtests, a founding-player badge nobody can earn after launch, and first word on everything. If we email you, it matters.
